How Can Gout Be Prevented?

Gout is a metabolic disease involving three main organs. Liver, where uric acid is produced along with intestines. Kidneys, urinary system via which 70% of uric acid is eliminated and intestines, from where 30% uric acid is eliminated.

Eating medicines is one of the modern ways the science suggests, management of gout. But, besides taking medications, a lot of things have to be considered. Let me put it out in the simplest manner possible.

External environment and gout

Let’s fixed the external environment so that crystallisation of uric acid does not happen smaller joints. So, what can crystallise uric acid dissolved and warm blood? Cold temperature. Do you sleep with lowest temperature on your air conditioner? Are you drinking icecold water on a regular basis? How about taking cold showers? Are you barefoot while in the house? If the answer is yes to most of the questions above, the chances are your external environment is one of the major contributors in your gout flareups.

Does Gout Shorten Your Life?

Gout is a chronic disorder. That means it takes long time to develop and long enough to manage. It affects mainly kidneys or is direct consequence of a kidney disease. Whichever way it is, it is not so good to kidneys specifically. Because, high uric acid in the blood will eventually result into the formation of kidney stones. This might result in kidney failure in long run.

According to Ayurvedic medicine, kidneys are considered to be one of the most important organs in the body. Modern science does agree to the same. In traditional medicine, any disease involving vital organs called marma, leads to premature death. This has been scientifically proven by modern science. According to a new study, people having gout for many years have a 25% higher chance of premature death then people those who have normal uric acid levels.

This research also mentions that gout is under-treated medical condition and there are not many options modern science. However, lifestyle management is the best way to get the uric acid levels in control. This is how gout might lower your lifespan. You requested crystals are needle shaped, is seen in the image below. Imagine these microscopic needles which have elevated levels in your blood are going around various parts of your body. When they reached the smallest or tiniest of the approaches of circulation system, known as capillaries, these crystals might be responsible for information on a microscopic level. This micro-inflammation starts causing damage to various organs of the body. But, the most abused organs of your body will be hit first.

Let us say, you smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. You are causing damage to the lungs day in and day out. On top of that, if you have gout, you have more chances of getting some disease of lungs at an older age like COPD or emphysema than a person who does not smoke smokes but is not having high uric acid levels in his blood.

The same type of phenomena happening virtually any organ in the body. If it happens in pancreas, and it starts damaging it, eventually you will have diabetes.

This is how gout might be responsible to cause multiple diseases in the body. And therefore, might shorten your life.

Following diseases may be the direct consequence of gout:-

1. Heart diseases.

2. Liver diseases.

3. Disorders of pancreas including pancreatitis, diabetes.

4. Kidney failure.

5. Kidney stones.

6. Gallbladder stones.

7. Stroke.

8. Arthritis.

In conclusion, golf is a life-threatening disease if not properly managed. Studies suggest that elevated uric acid levels in blood for a long time might lead to shortening of lifespan by approximately 11 years or more.

Is Gout Hereditary?

Modern science is unclear if gout is a hereditary disease or not. Traditional medicine systems like ayurveda knew that besides diabetes type I, there is no disease which can be explained as hereditary. In this article, we will look why!

What is a hereditary disease?

Any disease which can be transferred from your ancestors is hereditary? Correct? But, is that the only factor of disease predisposition? No! Let me explain.

Let us say, your grandfather, grandmother and their parents on both sides and your parents included, have elevated serum uric acid levels in their blood. And they are the outpatients. But, if you follow a different lifestyle and eating habits compared to your ancestors, your internal and external chemistry will be different than the else. Got it? No? Okay! Let me put it this way.

If in your ancestral lineage, they have been eating same type of foods, doing same type of activities and having same type of habits which generally leads to a particular disease like let’s say gout, they will get it even though none of their ancestors had it. But, if you follow the preventive line and decide to quote on the opposite rout as your lineage, the chances are you will not have elevated uric acid levels in your blood and thus no appearance of symptoms of gout.

It depends on how well you maintain the balance of food and lifestyle which does not lead to a particular medical condition even though your ancestors had it. Gout is not an exception.

A child who lives under parenthood where both parents are obese, let’s say, chances are 99% positive, you will be obese. Not mainly because of genetics. But, you would be following the same lifestyle as your parents. This is how we see in most of diseases.

Why Did I Suddenly Get Gout?

Gout is a metabolic disorder and as we know it today, more than two systems of the body, take time to develop.

Human body is incredibly flexible and does not show any signs of illness or damage until 90% of damage has already taken place. It is like killing 90% of cells of the body and still be functional.

Gout is no exception. When you start taking an unnatural way of lifestyle which was not meant for you, your organs namely kidney, liver, intestine from the body.s which have roles in production and elimination of uric acid from the body take a toll on it. At first it looks okay to not exercise, to eat more, to have a stressful life, and more, but by the end of one year and I mean one year of your life doing all wrong to your body, you will have a realisation. Now let’s say you don’t have that realisation, I’m sure you will have it by the fifth year.

Gout is a disease which appears by either overproduction or under elimination of uric acid from the body. We do not need uric acid, once it is produced by liver and intestines. It has to be eliminated, from the body mainly by kidneys and intestines and partly by skin.

Now let’s say you started abusing your body, by drinking alcohol or eating more portions reached in during at a very young age. The time your body was okay, you had energy, used to work, work out, and some activities which helped elimination of waste from the body easily. But as you age, and still keep on abusing the body same way you were doing it when you were young, your body has changed now. The systems have become more sluggish, it takes longer to eliminate waste such as high-protein foods from the body. Your body produces more of uric acid and thus not able to eliminate it at the desired rate. This leads to adding up of the levels of uric acid in the blood.

At this stage, your body starts showing symptoms or maybe not just as yet. It depends on a few things which include your current and past lifestyle and eating habits. Some of the abuses which I see in most of the gout patients in general are the following:-

  • Drinking less water.
  • Drinking more iced water.
  • Alcohol and beer.
  • Eating more animal proteins.
  • Eating less of vegetables.
  • Eating less fruits.
  • Drinking soft carbonated drinks.
  • Drinking more sugary drinks.
  • Eating more foods made from soy or drinking soy milk.
  • Stress at work.
  • Riding motorbike more often.
  • Bathing with cold water in cold season or on regular basis.
  • Sleeping in daytime.
  • Slipping/working in low temperature air conditioning.
  • No exercise for minimal movement of body.
  • Sedentary lifestyle.
  • Constipation.
  • Irregular sleep.
  • And many moreā€¦

Many of us are having this type of lifestyle, but only 3% of global population see the actual disease why?

Because only 3% have organs prone to or weak enough to practices.

This happens with all the diseases.

So, in conclusion, you did not get out all of the sudden. It is what you change the ninth of an eventually lead to elevation of uric acid levels in your blood adding to that when a lifestyle went unfavourable enough, it led to showing of the symptoms of gout.
